Local Mom, Cassie took her 4 kids to visit the Sci Tech Discovery Center recently in Frisco, TX. Cassie has four kids, (ages 3-9) and used her Pogo Pass for free entry!
This is a great place to visit and for things to do with kids when the weather is too hot outside or too cold, and offers some great STEM learning opportunities, events and exhibits.
Check out her tips for a great time!
Our Overview of Sci-Tech Discovery Center
This hands-on children’s STEM Sci Tech museum has a good variety of interactive exhibits and activities for early learners and elementary age kids, which are mostly self-guided and easy to operate without help.
Our local Children’s Science and Technology Museum opened as a result of an initiative by the Junior League of Collin County and opened in October 2009 and became a non-profit organization in 2004.

Sci Tech Museum: Special Events and Workshops
One of the things we love the most about this Sci Tech Museum are the staff. Ask them any question, and usually they can explain different STEM concepts in a simple way to kids.
They also host Sci-Tech story time, Girl Scouts and STEM workshops, Tinkering Time Saturdays, one-day camps, and homeschooling classes.
Sci-Tech Museum: Tips for Visiting with Kids
If you need to bring a stroller, it’s very accessible for that, with family restrooms available, and it’s open Tuesday to Sunday, so perfect for visits with both parents.
The museum was filled with interactive stations, spaced well, so it never felt overcrowded.
The air pressure zone was a hit…literally! The kids loved hitting a drum and watching the air move across the room. Then journeying over using it to push race cars across a track.
The bubble station was another major hit. Can you fit inside a bubble? Let’s find out!
There were also stations exploring the functions of the body. We even managed to fit all 4 kids in the nostrils!
The maker space was a blast, with plenty of opportunities to create all sorts of cool things.
And who could forget the HEB grocery store? The balance lessons were fantastic, though we decided to save the talk about grocery prices for another day.
This outing is great for multiples. You’re not standing in long lines for hands-on activities, and there’s something to capture their attention at every turn.
What else is close by?
The museum is in the same building as the National Videogame Museum and Traintopia. The National Videogame Museum is also included in a POGO pass for free entry, if you have one!
The Sci-Tech Discovery Center is part of the Frisco Discovery Center, which also houses the Frisco Art Gallery, Black Box Theater, TrainTopia, and the National Videogame Museum.
Just down the sidewalk is the Frisco Library, and only 4 minutes away is the Frisco Snow cone Lady.
Can you buy Food and Drinks at Sci Tech Discovery Center?
Here’s my Mom heads up: there’s no place that serves snacks or drinks, so plan accordingly.
We recommend a visit this Summer!
