What can you do at the Dallas Arboretum?
Over 66 acres, this garden sanctuary has world-class floral displays and horticultural designs and educational programs.
The Dallas Arboretum boasts scenic views of White Rock Lake. It’s a great spot for professional photoshoots and family photos.
The botanical gardens at the Dallas Arboretum rotates different displays throughout the year. Each garden presents a different theme, with Fall Pumpkins and Holiday themes between October and December. Spring is also beautiful with the tulips and cherry blossoms.
One of the highlights is the Children’s Adventure Garden, which provides interactive learning experiences for young minds. Here, kids can engage with nature through educational exhibits and activities tailored to their age group. It’s a perfect blend of fun and learning that leaves a lasting impression.
They also host storytime sessions in the Children’s Adventure Garden if you time your visit accordingly. Look out for the treehouse (with nets) and a caterpillar maze, which little kids will love!
There are exhibits with lots of hands on learning fun. There are mazes, a sandbox, an edible garden, an orchard and vineyard, an elevated sky walk through the tree canopy and much more!
The Dallas Arboretum often hosts events and workshops from guided tours to hands-on gardening sessions and outdoor concerts, there’s something for everyone to learn and enjoy.
If you’ve never been, you must go in the Fall – the pumpkins are a must see!
When you arrive go to the information desk and scan the QR code for a map of the gardens, that way you can plan out your day and make sure you don’t miss a thing!
What are the Opening Hours?
The Dallas Arboretum is open every day (except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day) from 9 am – 5 pm.
You can buy Dallas Arboretum tickets online with a timed entry time, we prefer to buy at the gate as the traffic can be unpredictable. Members have access any time, no need to book in advance.
Plan carefully. If the local ISD’s are out, it can get super crowded! Spring Break and October Fall Breaks are very busy times so you may want to avoid those if you have babies, toddlers or just adults in your group.
How much time should we allow for our Visit?
If not going to the Children’s Garden, we would allow around 3 hours. With the Children’s Garden, I would allow an extra 1-2 hours.
Food and Drink Options
To save money, plan ahead and bring a picnic and a cooler with your own food and drinks and a blanket so you can enjoy the views around you.
If you are hungry though, you can still find plenty of places to buy food throughout and plenty of places to sit around the Dallas Arboretum.
There are sit down options but there are also carts selling drinks, pretzels, chips etc and a few cafes with coffee, cakes, salads, hot dogs and cold drinks. The pricing is very reasonable.
Where to Park?
Parking is $15 or $12 if purchased online
Parking is available in two lot locations: the first is located at 85th Street and Garland Road, and the second is at 2649 Field Trial Lane.
The best place to park is Gate 4 under cover parking, it’s right opposite the entry, there is plenty of signage so you won’t miss it. It has an underground walkway to get you to the Arboretum safely.
Gate 1 is also a great option for parking but fills up quickly.
There are ample parking spaces close to the entrance, you can start your visit without the hassle of a long walk.
Reserved parking is available for those who prefer a guaranteed spot. This option is especially useful during peak times and major events when parking can be in high demand with overflow parking available.
Accessible parking is provided for visitors with disabilities, to make access to the gardens straightforward and stress-free.
