School’s out, but you still have to work

Start with the care window, not the camp theme. These options cover most or all of a standard workday:

CampCare windowDates to knowPrice
Plano ISD PASAR7 a.m.–6 p.m.Selected Plano ISD closure dates$58/day standard
Apex Centre, McKinney7 a.m.–6 p.m. with before/after careThanksgiving and Winter BreakSee registration + $25 fee

Top Tip

Before booking, check whether lunch is included, whether the child must already be enrolled in an after-school program, and whether “full day” ends earlier than your workday

Last-minute school-break camps

Need camp within the next few days? Check these first:

  1. YMCA Holiday Camp: Registration can remain open until 11:59 p.m. the day before, subject to availability.
  2. WOGA: Walk-ins are welcome when space is available, and single-day booking is offered.
  3. ASI Gymnastics: Walk-ins are welcome when space is available; a $5 same-day registration fee applies.
  4. Bricks Bots and Beakers: The current Plano Moms listing shows daily drop-in availability.

Call or complete the live registration before leaving home. “Walk-in welcome” does not guarantee a space, and some camps require medical forms, waivers or an existing after-school enrollment.

Local School-Break Dates: 2026–27

These are student no-school dates from the districts’ official calendars. Staff days and bad-weather make-up days can change, so check the district calendar before booking a nonrefundable camp.

School-Break Camp Planning FAQ

Do camp dates always match my school district?

No. Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney and Richardson do not share every student holiday. Match the camp’s date to your child’s district calendar before you register.

Are there camps for single days?

Yes. Current examples include WOGA, NTPA Creativity Camps, PASAR, YMCA, ASI and Ninja Nation, subject to availability. Frisco Community Tennis sells its holiday camps as multi-day sessions and does not offer single-day registration.

Which camps offer extended care or a full workday?

PASAR runs 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Apex Centre’s holiday camp can cover 7 a.m.–6 p.m. with before/after care. YMCA Holiday Camp runs 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. ASI families can combine the morning and afternoon sessions for 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Confirm the exact site and care add-ons before booking.

Are school-break camps refundable?

Policies vary, and last-minute bookings are often the least flexible. YMCA lists a full refund with at least three weeks’ notice, 50% with two weeks’ notice and no refund during camp week. ASI and Ninja Nation state that camp purchases are nonrefundable. Read the policy for your exact session before paying.

What should I check before booking?

Confirm the location, eligible age or grade, lunch and snack rules, medication forms, potty-training requirements, drop-off window, pickup fee, refund policy and whether the camp requires current after-school enrollment.

When should I book Spring Break camp?

Start checking in January, and book as soon as you find the right care window. Full-day programs, extended care and small specialty camps often fill first. Some providers publish 2027 dates earlier; others wait until January or February.

January and February School-Holiday Camps

Plano ISD PASAR Imagination Express

  • Plano | January 4 and February 15–16, 2027 | Current PASAR eligibility required | 7–6 | Long day included | Recreation, art and STEM | $58/day standard | Register
  • Why parents might like it: These are the awkward single days that many general break camps do not cover.

YMCA Holiday Camp

  • Downtown Dallas | January 4–5, January 18 and February 15, 2027 | Ages 4–12; additional Pre-K rules apply | 7:30–5:30 | Long day included | General day camp | $49/day | Register
  • Why parents might like it: Booking by the day makes sense for isolated district holidays.

ASI Gymnastics and Ninja Nation

  • Plano West, Allen and Frisco | Selected local school holidays; live schedule controls | ASI ages 3–14; confirm Ninja eligibility | ASI 8–1 or 1–6; Ninja 9–3:30 | No separate care listed | Gymnastics or ninja obstacles | ASI live price; Ninja $109/day | ASI | Ninja Nation
  • Why parents might like them: They are good places to check when the district is closed for one day and a week-long camp is unnecessary.
