Picking fresh fruit and produce is a fun way to get outside and get real food!

A You-Pick or Pick-Your-Own farm operation is a type of Fruit Picking farm is where the emphasis is on customers doing the harvesting themselves. It’s the best way to go fruit picking nearby.

A you-pick farm might be preferred by people who like to select fresh, high quality, vine-ripened produce and berries themselves at lower prices or even beautiful Texas Tulips during a short season in March

There are so many to choose from and include a variety of options to create a family-fun day fruit picking around Dallas, Collin County, Plano and throughout Texas!

You Pick Farms North Texas

Fruit Picking at a You Pick farm is a great thing to do when we have nice weather in the spring and early summer and is a great option as a Cheap things to do

You can also purchase Farm Produce in Local Plano Farmers Markets, Dallas Farmers Market and McKinney Farmers Market


Here’s a list of some places around Texas that have everything from berry picking farms, fruit to pecans.

Some are a drive so it would be a full day of traveling and picking. Don’t worry, at many of these places you can purchase Ice Cream, popsicles and other refreshments – you’ll need those in the heat of North Texas.

Make sure you call ahead and check online for each place as they might close for weather or be out of season.


You-Pick Fruit and Veggie Farms Close to Dallas

O’Neal Berry Farm

Location: 7726 CR 2580, Royse City, TX

Go early to this Fruit Picking farm as they usually close once it’s picked out, which is usually lunchtime. Blackberries are their jam! 

Pecan Creek Strawberry Farm

Location: 12141 Foutch Road, Pilot Point, TX – A pick your own strawberry farm located in Pilot Point. They usually update us online on the crop of ripe strawberries they have. Opens seasonally in April.

Greer Farm: 

Location: 1444 Co Rd 1125, Daingerfield, TX 75638

Head a few hours east and find beautiful blueberries and blackberries start at the end of May. Purchase home-grown products and spend some time with the farm’s animals. This looks like a great place to stay in cabin overnight too!

Blueberry Hill Farm:

Location: 10268 FM 314, 5 miles from Brownsboro, TX 75756

Head to Van Zandt county, 25 minutes southeast of Canton. Pick your own blueberries and blackberries in June and July. They also have a really cute county store inside!

Henrietta Creek Apple Orchard:

Lavender Ridge Farms

A personal backyard garden in the area. No pesticides are used, pecans, tomatoes, other vegetables, U-pick, and already picked.

Wow U-Pick Farms,LLC

No pesticides are used in their cucumbers, pumpkins, strawberries, bib lettuce, red sail lettuce, cilantro, radishes and tomatoes. Be sure to purchase their bell pepper jam.

Famous for it’s Pumpkin Farm in the fall, head there during the Summer for fruit picking, to pick your own blueberries (end of May through the beginning of July)

Fresh peaches since 1979!  They also have a complete farm market store with fruit and vegetable choices, offer hot BBQ food for sale and a patio to eat out too.

Their season is mid May – mid August and they’re open 9am – 5pm. Closed Sundays.

Pick your own fresh fruits and veggies right out of the soil! The farm grows everything from muskmelons and cherry tomatoes to hot peppers and cucumbers. Starting in May depending on the produce.

How does a farm get added to the list. We have a pick-your-own garden in Lucas. Currently we have cherry tomatoes, slicer tomatoes, several colors of bell peppers (including purple!), sweet peppers and hot peppers. We’ll be open Saturday 7am until noon. $2/person gate fee. Whatever veggies picked are $4/pound. Fieldsong Farm, Lucas, TX. Make an appointment by sending the time you want to come and the number of people in your party in an email to 2002blazingstar@gmail.com. We will also have a farm stand this Saturday, July25.
