We headed down to Austin, Texas a 3-hour drive from Plano, Texas, and pre-booked Valet parking on the Marriott Bonvoy website (which saved us money!).

This property has two hotels linked to each other – the Courtyard and the Residence Inn Austin Downtown/Convention Center.
They share a building, have an indoor pool and a convenience store, a Starbucks, and a sports bar.
The Marriott Bonvoy Courtyard is perfect for those who are on a budget.
We stayed in the Residence Inn on our last visit to Austin, Texas.
Each room has been renovated and has modern decor and design, some nice communal areas with comfortable seating, free wifi, a desk, a flat-screen TV, and coffee-making facilities.

If you stay at the Courtyard next door, you can upgrade to have a kitchenette and get a suite if you’re traveling with kids, to offer pull-out sofas.
But the location cannot be beaten. You’ve got so many great restaurants and landmarks in a short walking distance. It’s a perfect road trip destination or stop!
In one direction, you can head to 6th Street Austin, home to some great live music venues and places for adults to enjoy an adult beverage or two, or three!
In the other direction, you’ll head towards the Colorado River, which runs through the City of Austin.

You can enjoy a boat ride to see the sights from the water, or an early evening boat ride to see the Bats leaving the Congress Avenue Bridge – a must-see on any visit to Austin, Texas.
Head out by car to the Austin Farmers Market (a short 15-minute drive)!

You can store your finds in the in-room refrigerator and use the kitchenette in your Marriott Bonvoy Residence Inn hotel room to prepare some picnic lunches or a quick breakfast. If you don’t want to cook, just head downstairs for breakfast and a Starbucks!
Another great option in the Spring and Summer months is a day trip to the San Marcos River, to float the river! it’s a Texan tradition and a must for the bucket list.
The last time we spent the weekend in Austin, Texas, we stayed at the Residence Inn and walked over to a meeting point at a bar on 6th Street and they took us on a guided bus trip to the River and back again. It was such a great base to stay in, so we could enjoy that add-on to our trip to Austin.
