McKinney is known for many things, not least some of the area’s best neighborhoods and schools, but shopping and a vibrant restaurant scene – especially in Watters Creek.

It’s also known for being one of our DFW Cities with a really large High School – Allen High School.

Yes. Just north of Dallas and across the border from Plano, Prosper, Frisco, and McKinney, it’s easy to get to via the Dallas North Tollway and the 121, or Highway 75.

Things to do in Allen

One of the newest and most exciting venues for families to have recently opened in Allen is the Hub! Located at 1289 Johnson Road, Allen.

You can dance like no one is watching at their DJ Dance Party, an Outdoor Movie Night, and enjoy Live Music on the stage and enjoy a meal or a drink at any of their great choice of restaurants.

Some of our favorite places and things to do in Allen include the Hydrous Wake Park, located at 580 North Cedar Drive, Allen.

The Hydrous Wake Park is unique, as one of only a handful of cable wakeboarding parks in the U.S., as kids and adults alike can ride the waves while being pulled by overhead cables. You can start as a beginner and try it out at a Summer Camp too.

Why do people want to move to Allen, TX?

If you’re looking for somewhere to live, there are pockets of undeveloped land and new housing developments still going up around Allen, but it’s getting far closer to building out than it was even 5 years ago.

With great job prospects and proximity to the Dallas Metroplex, you can probably find good job prospects within a 30-minute drive of home, whether it’s in Allen itself or one of the close by cities, like Prosper, McKinney, and Frisco.

The choice of great public and private schools is a huge pull toward Allen, but house pricing is probably not too different than the cities further South if that’s a big factor in your decision.

Many West Coast and Northeast-based corporates have been moving their headquarters to North Plano and the Frisco area, as the availability of skilled labor is plentiful and the cost of living is still fairly accessible for many employees, so Allen makes a great place to settle and raise a family.
