Our Tips and Tricks for Thrifting
Tips and Tricks to remember when thrifting, consignment shopping and/ or selling at the Best Thrift Stores in Dallas.
Make sure to check websites to see what items they specialize in selling, accepting as donations or willing to purchase. If looking to donate or sell most locations want items to be brought in trash bags, not on hangers and not in boxes.
When purchasing items, remember all sales are final, if unsure always ask about their return policy before swiping.
Mostly all locations do not offer bags to take your items home. It is also a rare find to find a location with changing rooms, but lucky for you I listed three that offer them.
If you are looking to check the true authenticity of items, bring your phone to do some research in the store.
Ask store employees when they bring out new items to thrift or what times and days of the week are best for finding a hidden gem and fresh new items. Join their email list or subscribe to their social media to stay up to date with sales and upcoming items being showcased.
Always check back during seasonal holiday months, most locations stow away items and bring them out during certain holiday months. If you are searching for furniture bring along a measuring tape so you can size your item just right.
Finally, Be patient and have an open mind while thrifting. By shopping gently used second hand items, we as a community are helping our environment thrive.
Love this list — I’m always on the hunt for good secondhand finds! We recently discovered Used Book Depot in McKinney. It’s an awesome spot where you can buy or sell used books in great condition. Super affordable, and it totally fits the DFW thrifting vibe.
