What is Go Ape Plano?

Being adventurous outdoors is a great family activity, to get kids (and you) away from Digital Screens and into nature again.

We do not have to travel far – just try searching on Google “Zip lining near me”.

Within Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, you’ll find Go Ape Treetop Adventure.

You can spend hours navigating each part of the course, which features high ropes, ziplines, climbing, and swinging.

If you and your older kids are adrenaline junkies, you can swing through the Forest right here in DFW, within a short drive of your home.

How much does Go Ape Plano cost?

Rates may vary, but at the time of publishing they are:

For the Full Go Ape Experience: 2-3 Hours: Adults (and Young Adults 16-17 years) are $64.95, Kids are $59.95 (10-15 years)

For the Treetop Discovery, the price is $44.95 per person.

There is also a shorter experience called the “Treetop Discovery” of 60-90 minutes which has some long ziplines and tree-to-tree crossings available on select days towards the end of the day.

(Sidenote: We tried the Treetop discovery where you get 3 courses to try. Once you’ve moved on from each one, you cannot go back and we managed to get through all of them in only 45 minutes. The safety briefing took between 20-30 minutes, and so we didn’t have much time left over. For the price, you can get more time on other similar courses, like the Trinity Treetops Adventure Park in South Dallas).

A 2-3 hour adventure would be the better option for you for a little additional cost with full access to the course with 28-foot-high tree-to-tree crossings, super long zip lines, and heart-stopping Tarzan swings.

Why We Love to Go Ape Plano

Spend a whole morning or afternoon here and you’ll get to find your balance, crossing bridges, being among nature, and getting views up to 30 feet in the air of the Oak Point Nature Preserve and you can zip line over Rowlett Creek.

No need to worry if you have a fear of heights. You have a few obstacles to build confidence before getting to the zip line, over an area of about 800 acres.

More than just a canopy tour, the Go Ape course has numerous rope ladders and 39 exciting crossings; including the Pirates Crossing, Fisherman’s Trap, Bosun’s Chair, 2 Tarzan swings, and 5 zip lines.

As you move through the course sections, you get higher and higher up into the canopy.

  • Plan to spend 2-3 hours there. They’ll give you a safety briefing before you begin and you’ll be fully equipped with safety harnesses.
