Do you need Recommendations for your Kids to get their Teeth straightened?
Many people will only have to see a general dentist in their lifetime, but for some, they may also need to see an orthodontist, especially Kids!
Our Favorite Kids Dentists often provide referrals.
While many people believe that orthodontics is just a cosmetic thing this is not the case.
Orthodontists are your best friend if you or someone in your family have an overbite, underbite or if there are teeth that need to be realigned to fix crowding or spacing in the mouth.
All of these issues can lead to issues such as:
- Difficulty in Eating or Chewing
- Problems with Speech
- Gum Disease
- Tooth Decay
Here are a few questions to ask your potential orthodontist to help you decide
Advice is crucial when you are making a long term decision and a financial commitment like this.
How much does Treatment typically cost?
Budget $2,000 – $5,000 depending on what is needed. Be sure to check Insurance coverage to help with your financial commitment.
How long will the Treatment take?
This depends very much on what is needed. Some Kids and Adults will only need one round of Orthodontic treatment, while others might have phases of different types of Braces and Retainers over a number of months or years.
Can Insurance cover Orthodontic treatment?
Some Dental Insurance companies, like Metlife (as an example) will provide partial coverage with a limit per child on your policy. Usually a cash payment is necessary but most practices have payment plans and will work with you. You can look at your FSA and HSA options as many will allow the use of funds for orthodontics for *MEDICAL NECESSARY* reasons
What happens if the Braces or Retainer breaks or gets lost?
Usually a package is offered which covers Visits and Replacements as needed, but this coverage might lapse after a period of time after the treatment ends.

Thank you Buena for explaining to us the right time when a child needs braces. I stumbled upon here, curious when my son should visit the orthodontist. Thankfully, you have noted the questions I needed, I was relieved. I am hoping to get a professional to have his first checkup, Elate Orthodontics seems nearby.
