Fun things to do on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
3 Safe Ways to Play on New Year’s Day: Happening in 3 Locations around DFW
Day 1 Dallas is now Day 1 DFW, with the event happening all over DFW and virtually.
- Main Event Frisco – 9375 Dallas Pkwy, Frisco.
- Main Event Grapevine- 407 W State Hwy 114, Grapevine.
- Main Event Grand Prairie – 3106 S State Hwy 161, Grand Prairie.
When: January 1, 2021 9:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Day 1 Dallas is a family fair specifically designed for children and families to celebrate New Year’s Day together.
At a $70 value, the $15 all-access wristband affords wearers access to unlimited play
- Laser tag
- Gravity ropes
Participants will be issued bowling shoes and a $10 Fun Card for use around the facility.
Each site will offer face painting for $5 and photo booths for pictures of the family.
Come early from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and receive free access to the VR “Holigate” game at all three locations.
There will be a FREE drive-in fireworks show sponsored by Oncor and FC Dallas, hosted at Toyota Stadium in Frisco located at 200 World Cup Way, Frisco, TX 75033. Free fireworks begin at 7:00 p.m.
Parking for Drive-In Fireworks in Frisco: The parking lot at Toyota Stadium will open at 6 p.m. before the show. Snacks will be available for purchase from your vehicle. Parking will be free on a first come, first parked basis so be sure to arrive early to enjoy the show from the safety of the car!
Tickets will be $15 available online. Pre-purchase sale ends Dec. 31 2020 at noon.
You can still enjoy Day 1 DFW! They’ve created a Day 1 DFW Virtual Experience that will feature live and pre-recorded performances from Magician Grant Price, animals with Wildlife on the Move, and the Star Wars Characters from the 501st Legion.
There will also be fun activities airing such as a Virtual Trivia Game, a Hula Dancing Lesson, dancing, a cooking class, a science show and Virtual Bingo.
These Family friendly video experiences will be offered along with other great activities like our New Year’s Resolution Scavenger Hunt and Cardboard Challenge. Don’t wait until New Year’s Day.

- Enjoy the Day 1 DFW Scavenger Hunt with great New Year’s Resolution Clues. Each clue submitted through social media gets the player a raffle ticket. The prizes will be raffled off to participants on January 1 during the live streamed portion.
- You can also enjoy the Cardboard Challenge. It is a great fun activity and one of the most popular features. Participants build their own cardboard creation at home using only cardboard, tape, and markers. Submit photos of this masterpiece for the chance to win prizes.
- That evening the fireworks show will also be live streamed during the experience.
Cost: Access to the D1DFW Virtual Experience will be $10.
We are coming to the end of the Holiday Lights season but Drive-thru or Walking tours of the Local Lights are a great way to celebrate the New Year.

Dallas Zoo Lights
Location: 650 South R.L. Thornton Freeway (I-35E), Dallas, TX 75203
The Zoo is located three miles south of downtown Dallas, just off I-35E at the Ewing Ave. / Marsalis Ave. exit.
TxDOT is working on I-35E as part of a major construction project that is now underway and may affect your trip to the Zoo.
After the animals head in for the evening, the Dallas Zoo will transform into a winter wonderland with over one million twinkling lights illuminating ZooNorth throughout the holiday season ready for you to navigate in your car.
This year, discover realistic silk-covered lanterns in the shape of your favorite animals, plus even more light displays and festivities for the entire family!

Vitruvian Park is transformed into a dazzling and magical holiday wonderland during Vitruvian Lights, when over 1.5 million sparkling LED lights are wrapped around more than 550 trees – perfect for a drive-thru experience.
It remains open on New Years Eve and is on our big list of the Best Places in Dallas to see Christmas Lights

This huge indoor/outdoor experience includes 2.7 million lights offering tons of great photo opps, a huge skating rinks and a chance to visit with Santa!
The Trains at NorthPark
Location: 8687 N Central Expy, Dallas, TX 75225
The most elaborate miniature toy trains exhibit in Texas, The Trains at NorthPark™ features trains rolling across 1,800 feet of track on a journey across America.
Cityscapes include New York City’s Time Square and Grand Central Station, The White House, New England’s fall foliage, the Grand Canyon, Route 66, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, Albuquerque’s hot air balloons and, of course, Dallas’ Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, The State Fair of Texas, The Cotton Bowl, Nasher Sculpture Center, The Perot Museum, and Southern Methodist University.
The exhibit encompasses train-themed environments with all the trimmings of the holiday train travel experience—steam engines, coach cars, a ticket booth, and a train station.
Each year, more than 80,000 people visit The Trains at NorthPark™ as a part of their holiday tradition.

Skate Under the Stars at the outdoor ice rink located directly outside the Children’s Health StarCenter Farmers Branch this holiday season! The ice rink will offer visitors outdoor skating, concessions and more. All visitors MUST wear a mask or approved facial covering while on the ice at the outdoor rink.
General Admission (ages 4+): $10, Youth admission (3 & under): FREE, and Skate rental: $5.
Christmas in the Square
Location: 8843 Coleman Boulevard, Frisco, TX
New Years Eve Hours: 4pm – 10pm, weather dependent.
Christmas in the Square returns for its 16th year, full of established favorites and new surprises, such as their acclaimed Light Show, Skate the Square, Christmas Tree Lot by Scouts Troop 51, Horse Carriages, a Holiday Vendor Market, and Ike the Polar Bear!
The Holiday lights and music will run daily 6-10 PM – the show is free to the public.

One of Texas’ most popular holiday attractions will be better than ever this year with one-of-a-kind custom displays and brand-new indoor and outdoor attractions.

Let it Glow, Holiday Light Show
Location: 1701 Shoal Creek, Highland Village, TX 75077
This year’s display includes a 60 foot Christmas Tree and over 245,300 efficient LED lights synchronized to festive holiday music. Guests can enjoy daily showings of the interactive light show in our Central Park every hour on the hour from 6 pm to 9 pm.

The only 360-degree, panoramic fireworks spectacular in the Central time zone will light up the Dallas sky starting at 11:30 p.m. CDT , Dec. 31, 2020! If you want to be there IRL – book your room at the Hyatt Regency for viewing.

Day 1 DFW benefits Vogel Alcove, a nonprofit serving homeless children and their families. Approximately 3,000 children in Dallas go to sleep each night without a home of their own. We’re on a mission to help young children overcome the lasting and traumatic effects of homelessness
