The Jack Carter All-Abilities Park

Check out the Jack Carter Park – Plano’s first all-abilities park!

If you’re looking for a really fun park and playground in Plano, Texas that is truly designed and built for kids of all abilities, we have your inside scoop, so you can plan a fun visit to play outside.

Jack Carter Park is a beautiful park that will serve kids of all abilities.

It contains

  • A Pavilion
  • Picnic tables
  • A Pond
  • Restrooms
  • Sand volleyball
  • Trails

It’s located at 2800 Maumelle Drive, Plano.

This is the former location of Jack Carter Pool for those of you that have lived in Plano for a while and is now known as the Jack Carter playground. 

Jack Carter Park

The playground is designed for children of all abilities to play, learn and grow together and includes experiences that involve movement, climbing, and a mix of tactile, visual, and auditory experiences. It’s designed to be fully inclusive.

It’s specially designed for kids with Special Needs, to play outside along all other kids, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.

The park opened to the public on April 24th, 2018, so it’s one of our newest parks which has been specially designed and built for kids of all abilities. The Mayor of Plano and other city officials were there for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

There are several great bigger pieces to play on and the ground is all cushioned to help kids if they fall.

The park itself is really nice with a lot for kids to do but the area is really great for parents and families too.

Are there seating areas with tables at the Jack Carter Playground?

There are several tables that can be used and restrooms on-site. There is a great entertainment area and a nice pond to walk around.

Make a day out of this and bring a picnic to enjoy the entire park.

There are several tables that are covered and a very nice large open pavilion that will serve great parties. Reservations are not available, so be sure to plan on a first-come, first serve system.

Sand park at Jack Carter Park

Another nice feature of the park is a giant sand volleyball court and sand play is also available!

So be sure to bring some cups, shovels, and buckets to provide loads of entertainment and fun for kids.

This is just one of the best Parks in Plano and Splash Pads available for kids with Special Needs and All Abilities, provided by the City of Plano Parks and Recreation Department.
