We got a chance recently to check out the new Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience at Little Elm Park, Little Elm, TX.
The interactive forest and traveling trail is a whole experience, inspired by the Harry Potter films, and takes you on a magical journey through the most iconic Wizarding World moments.
You’ll hear music from the films, cast your own spells and you’ll get goosebumps walking the trail in the dark as if you’re living your very own Harry Potter life.
It’s perfect for a magical date night or for taking your kids (of all ages) to enjoy the experience with you. We’ll tell you all about what we thought and give you all the tips to help you decide if you want to go and what you should know before you go!
Is the Forbidden Forest Experience worth it?
We think so. If you have true fans in your family and friendship circle, they’ll want to bring their wands from home, their capes, woolly hats, and mittens and revel in the Harry Potter atmosphere.
It is a good amount of time of entertainment, and easily accessible, with strollers, wagons, and comfy shoes to walk the flat trails through the forest.
Plus it’s close to us in Little Elm, so an easy driving distance for the evening.
It can take a while, so if you have mobility issues this may not be for you unless you bring something to help you – we tracked 2 miles at least of walking. It can also get very cold at night, so be sure to bundle up as you have to complete the trail before you can get back out to the parking lot.
We thought the whole experience was very well curated and the technology to provide us with the magic was perfect! There were plenty of opportunities to cast spells and use the Patronus Charm.
What should you know before you go?
How long is the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest experience?
Hours are Monday through Sunday from 5:45 pm to 11 pm with the last entry at 9:45 pm.
Allocate around 60-90 minutes for the experience… we definitely took our time. If you stop at every interactive exhibit and the lines are not too long to take part you’ll be there closer to 90 minutes.
Your tickets are timed for a set arrival so the trails are not too busy with people.

Where can I park nearby to the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest?
Finding Little Elm Park can be tricky, off of Eldorado Parkway. Turn right on Lobo Lane and you’ll see tons of lit-up trees on the driveway with a sign to Little Elm Park.
We’d recommend buying your parking pass online as it’s cheaper than on-site! You’ll be greeted as you drive up the tree-lined avenue before reaching Little Elm Park and directed to the best parking lot with spaces.
It’s quicker and easier if you pre-purchase a parking pass online, and it’s cheaper ($5 online, $8 if you purchase on-site)
The walk from the parking lot to the entrance is at least 10 minutes, for slow walkers, it’s closer to 15 minutes.
It’s quicker to exit than it would be to get in.
What food is available at the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest experience?
There are plenty of Harry Potter-themed drinks and great meals and snacks available with a seating area to use and enjoy your meal or drink, surrounded by various photo opportunities at the end of the walk.
All visitors are offered special themed drinks including Hogwarts, Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw Hot Chocolates, Hot Spiced Mulled Wine, Beer, and Coffee Liqueur for the adults.

For Savory Snacks, they have soft pretzel bites, pigs in a blanket, and Meals including pies and fish N’chips!
What else do I need to know?
Avid Harry Potter fans will love to take some merch home with them! There’s a fun store with Harry Potter Merch you can stock up on which is also great for purchasing Holiday Gifts!
There is a Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience app that you can download and use to access unique extra special effects at some of the stops along the trail. Look out for the signage with a QR code which gives you a map to outline each of the stops and what you can do there.
If you go, let us know how you enjoyed it!
