Dallas Museum of Arts

The museum is established in 1903, which is among the ten largest art museums in the country and is distinguished by its commitment to research, innovation and public engagement. It houses global collection, which encompasses more than 24,000 works and spans 5,000 years of history, representing a full range of world cultures.
General admission to the Museum is free and includes viewing the Museum’s collection galleries and most exhibitions; selected special exhibitions and programs require an admission ticket.

Crow Museum of Asian Arts

The Crow Museum of Asian Art is founded in 1998 with a mission is to inspire and promote learning and dialogue about the arts and cultures of Asia through their exhibitions, research and preservation of collections, artistic and educational programming, and visitor experience and engagement. The museum contains more than 750 scrolls, paintings, objects of metal and stone, and large architectural pieces from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia. And, over 300 works are on display in three galleries, including precious jade ornaments from China, delicate Japanese scrolls, and a rarely seen 28-foot by 12-foot sandstone facade of an 18th-century Indian residence. It also offers an area for quiet reflection and learning in the middle of the Dallas Arts District.
Go, explore and check out some of their programs and events, which is excellent for everyone. The daily admission to the museum is free, but the suggested donation is $7 for adults and $5 for seniors.

Museum of Geometric and MADI Art

The Museum of Geometric and MADI Art is the only museum dedicated to MADI art and the primary point of focus for the MADI movement in the United States. What is MADI art and its movement? As mentioned in their website, MADI art, as well as contemporary geometric art, have some of their roots in the art of Malevich and other Russian revolutionary artists of 1917. These artists eschewed figurative art. The art passed through Europeansuch as Mondrian to Torres-Garcia, who brought this art back to his native Uruguay, where it met that country’s native Carmelo Arden Quin and others. Nasher Sculpture Museum

This museum is FREE on every first Saturday of the month from 11 am to 5 pm, and there are fun family activities from 11 am to 1 pm. Located in the oasis in the heart of downtown Dallas, Nasher Sculpture Museum is home to one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculpture in the world. They’ve got beautiful outdoor and indoor galleries, which always amazes both the locals and visitors.

The Samurai Collection

One of the hidden gems in Dallas is the Samurai Collection, right on top of a restaurant in Harwood. It is pretty cool to know that it is the most extensive samurai collection outside of Japan, and it has over 1,000 items on display. The Museum is free for everyone and open Tuesday through Sunday.
Mary Kay Museum

Mary Kay Museum will take you to the history of this world-renowned beauty brand, Mary Kay. The museum will walk you through its history and experience the vision and the dream of a woman more than four decades ago, which have helped so many lives ever since. It is located inside the Mary Kay World Headquarters in Dallas and free for all visitors, from 9 am to 4 pm every Monday to Friday except major holidays.

Amon Carter Museum

This free museum was built in 1961 to house Fort Worth publisher Amon Carter’s collection of Western art. It offers a stunning selection of American art, including the first landscape painters of the 1830s to modern artists of the 20th century. Today, it houses some of the most American painter’s masterworks, together with sculptures and graphic arts from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The location offers permanent and traveling exhibitions, educational programs, and teaching resources. Traveling exhibits and public programs may have fees.
It recently reopened (October 2019) after a yearlong face-lift to its landmark building and a re-installation of its galleries.

Kimbell Art Museum

It’s always free to explore the Kimbell’s collection and its buildings! This impressive museum building is designed by an American architect, Louis I. Kahn. And Kimbell’s collections range in period from antiquity to the 20th century that includes European masterpieces by Fra Angelico, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Poussin, Monet, Picasso and Matisse, and more. The museum is also home to an extensive collection of Egyptian, Mesoamerican, Asian, and African art. There are Special exhibitions available year-round.

The Sid Richardson Museum, a part of historic Sundance Square in Fort Worth, is located within walking distance from downtown hotels. It showcases the paintings of the 19th Century American West by Charles M. Russell & Frederic Remington and other artists. The works that you will see are reflections of both the art and reality of the American West. A free guided tour is offered every Tuesday and Saturday at 2 pm and by appointment, and you can schedule free group tours with three weeks noticed. Admission is always free

Perfectly suited as a childrens museum it’s located in the historical downtown Plano, the Interurban Railway Museum features interactive exhibits on electricity, science, and the history of Plano and the Texas Electric Railway. You get to see a beautiful 1911 railway car and will give you an idea of what transportation used before here in our beloved city of Plano.
This is the only remaining sub-station example on the Interurban line, which served as a primary stop on the Texas Electric Railway, linking Denison and Dallas beginning in 1908. So, it would be best if you see it, and activities are offered weekly for families.
