When you’re dining out it’s always nice to save some money. Kid meals can be so pricey!  Some places charge almost an adult price for a small kid meal. We’ve asked around to find the best deals on kid meals. Here are some places that offer cheaper kid meals in Plano. Which one is your favorite??

How to Find the Best Deals When Shopping Online

With a little planning, you can save big on your online orders. There are a few ways to find online discount codes, buy discounted gift cards, and even earn cash back!

Free or Cheap Things to Do With Kids

Now that summer is upon us we get the job of keeping the school-aged kids entertained all day. There are lots to do in Plano and surrounding cities but all these places can cost money and will quickly add up fast! If you’re on a budget like most of us, here are some free or cheap things to do with kids!

FREE Things

Dallas Museum of Art: Free family fun on 1st Tues of the month has a free general admission.

Build and Take:  Places like Home Depot and Lowes offer monthly kids’ build and take home activities. Each store offers something different each month so call ahead and see when the next date is. Most take reservations so call ahead!

KidsBowlFree:  Registered kids receive 2 free games of bowling all day every day all summer long!

Plano Library Story Time: This is fun for little kids and totally free. Each library in Plano has daily story time and other fun activities. Check the library website for more info.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve: This is a great park and walking area in Plano. You can bring a picnic or bikes and make a day of it. Lots to do here and totally free!

Frisco Safety Town This is located in Frisco and great for the younger crew.  All tours and visits are free. You are to call ahead and make sure they are available but it would be fun for a Mom’s meet-up playdate. The kids would love it!

Founder’s Plaza  This is near DFW airport and would be fun for any kids interested in airplanes! You can watch planes take off and land all in one safe place.

Cabellas: Look at boats, ride on tractors, see hunting gear, and see fish. This would be a fun field trip for the younger crowd and FREE!

Interurban Railroad Museum: This is a free vintage train car located in Haggard Park that you can tour and learn about. It’s open daily and they even offer a weekly story time!

Splash Pads: There are several splash pad parks around the area that offer free water fun. You just bring a towel and some sunscreen and you’re good to go!

McKinney Avenue Trolley: This is totally free and so fun! You can hop on the trolley, ride around Dallas a little bit and then hop off. Kids would love this!



CHEAP Things

Dallas Zoo: Getting a yearly membership can totally pay for itself in a few visits. This would be fun for the family and you can take food/drinks to save money. The new hippo center just opened up! Have you seen it yet?

Nickelmania ($2ish per person) admission, Most games cost 2-3 nickels. This is not totally free but it’s pretty cheap entertainment. You can also bring in your own food!

Discount Movies:  On Tuesdays movie at Cinemark (Movies 10) $1.50 admission or check out Cinemark’s Summer Clubhouse movie schedule. You can see 10 movies for $5!

Klyde Warren Park: Make a day trip into Dallas and ride to DART train to the park. Dart tickets would be around $2 per person and then you can either bring food into the park or eat from the awesome food trucks there!

Farmers Markets There are several Farmer’s Markets around the area including a brand new on to Plano that is open on Sundays. These markets usually have lots to check out and see. You can get local produce and crafts at great prices. Being outside and getting fresh air and exercise is always a plus!
