The Boardwalk at Granite Park

Address: 5872 – 5880 TX-121, Plano, TX 75024 

Known for: A Kids Playground, tons of choices of eating places and nice outdoor deck for a stroll

The Boardwalk at Granite Park Plano has a pretty pond and fountain and a bonus Kids’ playground along with great choices for restaurants with outdoor seating. At night, the area is perfect for a stroll thanks to overhead lighting. Dining options are plentiful here – with something for everyone. 

The Granite Park Plano area has many great choices – Union Bear, Chips, Fork & Fire, and Blue Mesa. Each of these restaurants usually has enough room and is not crowded if you go before 6:30

Blue Mesa: 8200 Dallas Pkwy, Plano, TX 75024. Tex-Mex favorite Blue Mesa Grill has happy hour from 3-6:30 p.m. and a nice Patio area outside!

Chip’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers’ happy hour is 3-7 p.m. weekdays and one of our favorite local Burger joints.

Union Bear Brewing Co’s happy hour is 3-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or try their $50 burger box, which includes four burgers and fries.- faced away from traffic so you don’t hear anything.

Katy Trail Icehouse Outpost

Address: 4700 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093 

Known for: The Katy Trail Icehouse Outpost’s Austin-style beer garden is one of Plano’s best patios due to its festive atmosphere. Katy Trail Icehouse Outpost is also canine-friendly. There is a nice outside environment which is pet friendly. They have Music and TVs and it’s a great place to watch football

They have a huge patio which was very social distanced. We did Mignon last night – a huge patio and very social distanced! Enjoyable evening!

Known for: A large patio facing the Legacy West fountains with neighboring restaurants Mesero and Tommy Bahama – which makes this a great spot for unparalleled people-watching at North Italia.

Their Italian-themed weekend brunch is popular, as is their happy hour 3-6 p.m. weekdays!

Box Garden at Legacy Hall

Known for: Choices, choices, choices – tons of eating options and places to sit and comfortable outdoor sofas! 

The popular outdoor Box Garden has a fun outdoor stage and an artificial grassy space with tons of picnic tables and space to distance and play. It is safe and fenced in and quiet, despite the parking garage and road alongside.

Happy Hour is between 3-6 and they have tons of outdoor seating not just on ground level but also across the three-story food hall with over 20 different eating outlets.

Known for: The View and the Margaritas! 

Overlooking the Shops at Legacy fountains, Mexican Sugar’s patio is a great place to pass the time. The latin flavor of their cuisine and drinks menu makes this one of our favorites. Happy hour is 3-6 p.m. weekdays!

Love and War in Texas

Address: 601 E Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75074

Known for: Imagine you are in Austin listening to really good Live Country Music (for free) at their patio especially on Weekends. At Love and War, you can taste Texan regions literally with a huge drinks and food menu.

Rodeo Goat

Address: 641 Powell Lane, Plano TX 75075

Known for: It’s Amazing burgers, including the Beyond Burger and it’s outstanding patio space which is surprisingly quiet! 

We should be focussed on the patio, but truly their burgers are where it’s at. Many are named after local celebrities and come with all the extras! Rodeo Goat is two doors down from Flying Fish. Check out their happy hour 4-7 p.m. weekdays. It’s one of the best local Burger Places in Plano.

One of our best seafood eateries (you have to try their catfish!) you can get your seafood broiled, fried, grilled or steamed. Flying Fish’s patio backs up to a natural creek and is surprisingly quiet!

Terra Mediterranean

Known for: Terra Mediterranean has a view of the water features and open areas at The District at Willow Bend and fun play areas for Kids and Adults, just outside. We spotted corn-hole last time we were there. If you want great falafel, gyros and kabobs with your mojito and sangria – this is your place.

Turkish Café and Lounge

Known for:  How does a vast wooden deck with a little international flair and a waterside view? Try happy hour at Turkish Café and Lounge Every weekday from 4-7 p.m. when specials include half-price appetizers and drinks specials

Lazy Dog

Address: 8401 Preston Rd, Plano

Known for: Great for Dog Owners! Their patio welcomes our furry friends.

Lazy Dog has a huge menu and lunch specials daily and weekend brunch from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., featuring a mimosa flight and a breakfast burger AND a curated menu for fur babies too!

Urban Crust

Address: 1006 E 15th St, Plano TX 75074

Known for: Wood-fired pizzas and great cocktails

Home to the 32 Degrees Bar, Urban Crust’s third-floor patio is a hip, open-air rooftop dining area which is small and mighty. Their weekday Happy hour coupled with live acoustic music Thursdays or a DJ spin Top 40 hits on Fridays and Saturdays makes this a must-visit!

The Fillmore Pub

Address: 1004 E 15th St, Plano, TX 75074

Known for: A popular fixture in historic Downtown Plano, The Fillmore Pub offers various beers and specialty drinks like their Classic Negroni. Check out $8 lunch specials from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays while their weekend Pub Brunch features show-stoppers like Kahlua French Toast.

It’s the closest Plano has to an old-fashioned Bar like “Cheers” or a British Pub. The Fillmore’s patio does face bustling 15th Street (a no-no on our list of “bests”), but the great people watching and scenic view of McCall Plaza, especially once live music returns, make this patio visit-worthy.

Known for: Tupelo Honey has Southern charm and an eye-catching, expansive patio (great for people watching) – with lounge seating, bar, and outdoor grill, located in the Star complex in Frisco.

Hula Hut

Known for:A tropical Texas paradise….in Little Elm, overlooking beautiful Lake Lewisville. This is a traditional Tex-Mex with a Polynesian twist Hang loose and groove to Hawaiian and Surf style music in any of their three bars. The decked patio overlooks the Lake where you can watch the sunset among tiki torches, bamboo walls, grass-thatched bars and thousands of colored lights. Couple a Mango Margarita with a lavish Pu Pu Platter while you wait.

The Truckyard The Colony has a huge outdoor area and beer garden! Great food trucks! Love their beer selection (full bar too). Doggies welcome. Fun spot!!


Lava Cantina

Known for: Being family friendly and a fun rock n’roll venue

Lava Cantina is a Creole Restaurant with a Mexican twist, located right off of Highway 121 in The Colony, Texas. Expect incredible live music viewed from their Patio on their stage throughout the week — including acoustic Happy Hour, Latin Night, Sunday Jazz Brunch, top-notch 70s, 80s, and 90s cover bands and rock n’roll, and amazing National Touring Acts!

Cru Food & Wine Bar has a small patio that faces the greenbelt area of the shopping where movies play on inflated screens and concerts are performed (depending on time of year). It is pretty to look at and away from the traffic.

Cheesecake Factory has a balcony and terrace seating that has a nice view of a water feature.

Lekka: 17606 Preston Rd, Dallas, TX 75252. It’s a favorite which has a huge and nicely laid out patio

Coffee House Cafe: 6150 Frankford Rd, Dallas, TX 75252 has a small, covered patio with a fireplace and slated walls at this Preston Frankford intersection.
