Consignment and bargain stores have become really popular in recent years and even more so now, as so many of us are clearing our homes and decluttering like Marie Kondo and courtesy of Netflix show, The Home Edit!
There are some great places to shop for bargains and unique items, and when we recycle and re-home items, it is more environmentally friendly.
It is good for the economy, good for your community, and good for your closet, for sure!
Once you’ve cleared everything out, you’ll want to pass on your stuff for sale – clothing, toys and household items. There are some great options for consignment nearby.
It’s the perfect time for your trash to become someone else’s treasure, and add more money into your household budget. This is the best time to find Consignment sales and Consignment stores nearby if you need to save money on new clothing, household items and toys.
How do Consignment Stores work?
Consignment shops and stores work in several ways that allow you to earn money for your old and gently used items – like clothing, handbags, shoes, furniture, home décor, and all the other things.
Contact each of the stores first, so you know what to expect. Some of them will allow you to leave your items at the store; they sell them and then take a percentage of the sale price and pass the rest of it back to you.
Some will pick what they want or what they think will likely sell, and they pay upfront and you’ll leave the items with them.
How do Bargain or Thrift Stores work?
They are mostly donation-based and fundraise for a charity or non-profit organization. Anyone can donate gently used goods, including clothing, shoes, and accessories. All these items are sorted and priced accordingly, and most of the proceeds go to the charity organization they supported.
Be sure to contact them directly if you’re looking for large item or furniture pick-ups. Some of them may be able to accommodate but they’ll have requirements for the condition of those to ensure they’re ready for resale.
