The Practical (mom) Meets the Fashionable (mom)!

Based in Dallas, Bag Bug is a designer house of innovative accessories, bridging the gap between the fashionable and the practical. The first patent-pending product designed by a woman for women is the Bag Bug™, an accessory created to help keep your handbag from constantly slipping off the shoulder, while adding comfort, and accessory appeal.

The Bag Bug™ can also be used to keep your purse off the floor by hanging it on the corner of a table, bar, or countertop, as well as on the back of a (round) chair! Bag Bug™. Wear it, Love it, Adore it.

The Bag Bug™ can be used on both round and flat straps, and most strap materials (cloth, leather, plastic, rope).

How to wear your Bag Bug™:

Everyone’s shoulders are different. You may have more than one handbag or diaper bag that you like to use. Because of this, my recommendation is for you to test different areas of your shoulder for the “sweet spot” of comfort. For me, the Bag Bug™ feels most comfortable toward the front of my shoulder. For others, that sweet spot is right in the middle of the shoulder. So, play with it, move it around and find your comfortable sweet spot! Keep in mind that sweet spot may be different when you switch purses and/or strap types.

How to select the shape of your Bag Bug™:

The best way to decide which shape of Bag Bug™  to get for your purse is to determine if the majority of your purses have round or flat straps, to begin with.  Tip: If the straps are flat and thick, the round shaped Bag Bug™ works best as it opens up wider and holds wider straps than the flat shaped Bag Bug™.

The Bag Bug™ can be used on most types of bags: Cocktail purses, small, medium, large and extra-large purses, with flat or round straps, including laptop and diaper bags.

How to attach and remove the Bag Bug™ to your purse: Whether you have 1 or 2 straps, it’s easy as 1, 2, 3!

Attaching the Bag Bug™ onto your handbag with a Round Strap(s) or Flat Strap(s):

  1. Widen the opening of the Bag Bug™ with your hands. Don’t be afraid to open it; it’s stainless steel so it’s strong material and won’t break on you (just don’t open it to 90 degrees). Slip your strap(s) through to the middle or back edge of the Bag Bug™. Depending on the size and thickness of your straps, you will be able to fit both or only 1 strap through the Bag Bug™. Nevertheless, the Bag Bug™ will keep both straps on your shoulder, as long as you wear it correctly.
  2. Once your straps are inside the Bag Bug™, press down strongly to close the Bag Bug™ over the straps so that it works properly and doesn’t slip off. This is the most important step! You don’t want to lose your Bag Bug™!

Here’s a helpful video that demonstrates how to attach your Bag Bug™, and shows you how to get the most out of your Bag Bug™!

Removing the Bag Bug™ from your handbag with a Round Strap(s) or Flat Strap(s):

  1. Widen the opening of the Bag Bug™ enough for the strap(s) of your purse to slip out easily. This will prevent your straps from being scratched by the Bag Bug™.

Note: The Bag Bug™ is designed to remain on the strap(s) you place it on. You can remove it at any time and it can be used daily.

How to select the color of your Bag Bug™:

I like to match the color of the purse’s hardware (the metal clasps, buckles, etc) to the color of the Bag Bug™. Each Bag Bug™ comes in 3 different colors: Silver, gold-plated, and rose gold-plated.

Plano Farmers Market

The new Plano Farmer’s Market just opened up yesterday near downtown Plano. Come check out all about it and shop local!

Open every Sunday from 10am-3pm the Plano Farmers Market has lots to offer. There were more than a dozen vendors set up with a variety of goods. Some vendors include local honey, grass-fed beef,  crafters, sweets, and local farmers selling fresh produce at amazing prices!

Shop Local and Fresh at the Plano Farmers Market!

The Farmers Market is located just NE of downtown Plano in the parking lot of the Plano Municipal Center.  (1520 K Avenue, 75024)  This will be a year-round operated by Red Tent Markets.

I had a chance to visit on opening day and it was so fun! I wasn’t expecting to love everything I saw and I came away with some local goodies myself!!   I can definitely see myself going to back to get weekly fresh produce from the produce stands. Next time I want to talk more to grass-fed beef Man too. The good news is that all the vendors I spoke to took credit cards!

All the vendors were so nice to talk to and happy to tell you about their products. This would definitely be a place you can take kids, but please take note, there are no dogs allowed on site. I also did not see any restrooms when I was there so be advised. I could have missed them though 🙂

The Plano Farmers Market will be year round and run every Sunday from 10am-3pm.

Kid’s Consignment Sales

Every Mom knows that kids outgrow their clothes so fast. Sometimes you buy something and before they can even wear it it’s too small. A great thing to do with gently worn clothes is to consign them. Doing this can make you a little money or sometimes store credit to purchase some newer clothes for your kids. Here are some great places around Plano to consign kid’s clothes.

Store Locations in Plano

*Once Upon a Child: 7200 Independence Parkway  There is also one in McKinney. This store will take year round clothes. Call ahead for bigger items before bringing it up there! No appointment necessary to consign, but you might have to wait or come back a few hours later for your money. Try to bring clothes during the week, weekends are very busy.  When you get an offer, you can get cash or store credit.  Here is what they buy.

*Kid to Kid  6405 W Parker Road  They buy seasons all year round and MATERNITY! (They don’t have a lot but maybe you can sell your old maternity clothes!) They do have a new policy that only 1 laundry basket of clothes is allowed to consign. Call the store for more details and to see if appointments are needed.

Yearly Bigger Consignment Sales:

*Just Between Friends This is a great place to sell and buy gently worn clothes. They have yearly sales in the Fall and Spring so check their website for more info.

*Divine Consign The largest and longest-running children’s consignment sale in the Plano area! Sales are 2X a year and also great to buy and sell. The sales happen in late summer and February (ish) for spring. Check the site for the next sales and sign up to consign and sell your clothes. They will send you a check after the sale. I’ve consigned in with them for years and love it. If you sign up to volunteer you can get into the sale early and get a discount as well. A great team of Moms!

*Rhea Lana’s (Frisco)  This is a newer consignment to the area but fastly growing. Similar to the above they have yearly sales in Frisco. You can also volunteer and get a discount and passes into the sales early!

Selling kid’s clothes does take some work. Make sure you check out the rules for the sale and follow them. The yearly sales places and even stores can be picky and anything with small stains or holes will not be allowed to be sold. Another option is to sell in Facebook group places like Plano Moms Sell/Swap/Give.

CityLine

If you’re looking for to check out some newer developed areas around town, check out CityLine. CityLine is located in the SE corner of George Bush Tollroad and Central Expressway. It’s just 2-3 stops off the DART from Parker station. It’s loaded with new restaurants and fun shops so visiting CityLine is a must!

CityLine is a new development that is served for mixed use of restaurants, Whole Foods grocery store, movie theater, offices, residences, and retail shops. It was created in hopes to bring more of a city life to the suburbs. They say the have something to offer everyone!

I loved that everything was within walking distance. I went around dinner time so I saw people out walking and enjoying themselves. I also thought the area was very well lit and there were tons of parking areas. That’s always nice!

I recently checked out CityLine and I was really impressed! There were so many fun restaurants to try out including one I’ve been hearing about, Fernando’s Mexican food. This was definitely the most packed as we were strolling by! It’s one I want to try sometime soon.

I also spotted Tom + Chee, for every grilled cheese lover! I’ve heard great things about this too. I was pleasantly surprised to see a nice variety of eateries. They have some nicer places that will cost more and some lower priced ranged sandwich and yogurt shops too.

To check out more shops and restaurants at CityLine they have a great directory to view them all with store information on each.  They have a movie theater that says opening in 2017 on the directory site. I did not see it the day I went so I’m not sure exactly when it will open.

CityLine is a really nicely done development that offers so many choices and things to do for the family. It will be a perfect place to spend a family night out or even a fun date night.  There were more developments going up and some construction going on because they are adding even more to the area!

Check out CityLine and let us know your favorite place there!
